With callings ever we invoke Agni,
Agni, Lord of the House |
Oblation-bearer, much beloved ||
Wake up the willing Gods,
since thou, Agni, performest embassage: |
Sit on the grass with the Gods ||
[1.12.3 & 4]
The Vaidika invoke thee;
we, O Singer, sing thee songs of praise: |
Agni, come hither with the Gods ||
Indra, V¡yu, B¤haspati,
Mitra, Agni, P£Àan, Bhaga |
Ëdityas, and Marut host ||
For you these praises
are poured forth that gladden and exhilarate |
Like meath-drops resting in the cup ||
Adored, the strengtheners of Law,
unite them, Agni, with their Dames: |
Make them drink meath, O bright of tongue ||
[1.14.2-4, 7]
Whoso with sacred gift
would fain call Agni to the feast of the Gods |
O Purifier, favour him ||
O Agni, by effulgent flame,
by all invokings of the Gods |
Show pleasure in this laud of ours ||
[1.12.9 & 12]
